WHEN YOU HAVE AN ACCIDENT
1.     If possible move your vehicle off the road. Turn on emergency signals.
2.     Before you attempt to leave your vehicle, assess your situation.  Check to see if you or your passengers are injured.  Call 911 for emergency assistance.  Try to stay calm.
3.     If another vehicle is involved, be sure to exchange names, license plate numbers, driver license numbers, address and insurance company information.
4.     Report the accident to your insurance company
5.     It is always a good idea to keep a disposable camera, pen, paper, insurance, and whom to notify in case of emergency handy.  Store the items in a ziplock bag identified emergency in your glove box.

6.     Even if you feel the accident is your fault do not admit to being at fault.  Try to stay calm and wait for emergency assistance.

1.     Have your vehicle repaired at a professional facility. They will have the trained professionals and the right equipment to do the repairs correctly. (Having a back alley shop can often turn into a nightmare if you are not satisfied with the outcome.)
WHEN HAVING YOUR VEHICLE REPAIRED:
2.     It is your right to choose the facility you wish to do the repairs.
3.     Your insurance company cannot require you to use a particular shop.
4.     If the repair shop you would like to use is not listed with your insurance don't hesitate to use that shop.  Just because the shop is not listed as a direct repair does not mean they do inferior work or will not issue a warranty for the repair.

5.     The law does not require you to obtain more than one estimate.  If you would like to obtain another estimate be sure to ask the repair facility if there is a charge.  Some facilities charge for the estimate if you do not have it repaired there.

6.     If your vehicle was towed direct to a facility not of your choosing let your insurance company know immediately where you want the repairs done.  Shops charge storage fees daily for your damaged vehicle as it sits at their location.  If you incur a storage fee ask the repair shop of your choice if they will pay it.  All shops value their customers and may be willing to cover that expense for you.
